The week before hand in

| Tuesday 11 December 2007

The week before deadline and I am feeling that I have got 95% of the A3 assignment complete. I have completed the all of the written work and I have only got to check for spellings, grammar etc... The A4 assignment is also almost complete, with only the banners to finish, so any feedback on my banners above will really help.

I have found the development of ideas for the banners proven to be very useful and it has shown me all the little details that can be altered and how they can have a major impact on the entire look of the design.

This week has been 'a get on with it' week and it has helped me to finish my written work and helped me to be more relaxed for the hand-in next week. With the hand-in next week I have almost got my web plan finished so I will be posting them tonight.

My targets for next week are:

  • Complete banners
  • Complete screen designs
  • Collect all images together and place them in the assignment template
  • Add all references into assignment template and align them to the assignment work
  • Add image restoration to Pagemaker template and add border
  • Arrange all work into the folders in preparation for the work
  • Print assignments off and sign them
  • Hand the assignment in!!

I think the text on the Tina May design is too close to the edge. Maybe 2 or 3 pixels more right would sort it?

The Don Weller one is spot on. I love the effect you have created with the coloured saxophone.

Have you and Liam used the same photographs?. Your images look really strong, however are let down by the typography.

Have a look at Martyn’s banner. Other than the date, his text layout compliments the photography.

For the Tina May banner I like how you have added a bit of colour just to her lips, and it’s good you have moved the text around and made it bigger, it makes it more eye catching and easier to read.
A lot like the Tina May comment I like how you have moved and resized the font, I also like how have changed the colour from a bright yellow to a duller yellow it looks better.

I really like the banners... I wondered last week when you posted the one with the coloured sax how you might add colour to the other one. By adding colour to the lips I think it adds that extra edge that a black and white image doesn't have, as well as conforming to the theme of adding a single colour.

Good work!

I really like the banners and I have to agree with Marc, the text on the Tina May one is too close to the top, but apart from that there really good.

You've washed out all the colour on the Tiny May image, and I think this has caused it to lose a lot of it's power. Try and restore the image to it's former glory and I think you'll find your banner looks a lot better.

Again, as I've said on other people's journals - shrink the text down and pull it away from the edges. It doesn't need to be so tight to the edge. Give the design room to breathe with some negative space.

Glad to see that you have got most of your work completed.

I really like how you have changed your banner designs they where really good before. But I think that moving the text around has made them more eye catching.

I like the consistancy you've got going between the banners, I mentioned to someone else bringing the brass colour out of the saxaphone, it looks real nice.. maybe try sharpen it up a tad though, for some reason it looks a little blurred; not sure if thats just the original photoquality.

Glad to see that your work is nearly to a complete state James.

As for your banner feedback. Might it be possible to adjust the size of the secondary text to a larger state on the Tina May banner.

Thanks: John
